Here’s a book that’s intended to be very tactile-oriented.
For the outside covers, a big “wool” pad (probably fake wool, I would guess) for “soft” touch.

Inside the book, one side is hardware cloth, for “rough” or “hard”.
On the other side are several levels of “rough” or “smooth”, from pieces of sandpaper in 6 different levels of grit. There are also a few spots of the backing paper, for a “smooth” contrast.

Down the middle is a line of cloth and a long piece of heavy duty duct tape. This serves to divide the two areas, cover up the extra bits of hardware cloth, and also provides more contrast, for “smooth” and “soft”.

What do you DO with such a book?! (aside from discuss a bunch of words related to textures)
On the hardware cloth side, mosaics!
On the sandpaper side, roleplay games!
Each side has its own bag to hold the appropriate pieces.

The mosaics side has a bag of different colors of small glass squares that astonished me by fitting perfectly within the hardware cloth squares. Amazing how that worked out so beautifully!

The sandpaper side looks quite a bit like a landscape, with different textures for different kinds of topography, and the smooth backing areas for water or creeks (maybe?). The bag for that side includes some dice, a piece to mark the location of your band of adventurers, and a few various other things that RPG folks might find useful.

This book is so big!
Weighs 11 pounds!
Approximately 24×24 inches (60×90 cm), and makes a very satisfying Thunk! when you open it and let the cover fall to the floor.

When I was waiting for the glued-on cover to dry, I used big crates and buckets of barley for the “book press” weights. 🙂

I enjoyed this project a lot, so fun!
IMPORTANT!
Is almost entirely Small Parts, so it’s probably not suitable for young children, unless they are very closely supervised by responsible adults.
This project was done in response to the #areyoubookenough_touch prompt from December 2018.
(still trying to catch up on all the ones I missed)
