(Swarm of) Chaos Creatures, great for anyone’s world.
Is it a wizard? A healer? A rat? A bear? A zombie? Who knows!?
Crocheted sashes, about 4 inches across
about 60 inches long, one size fits most.
Each sash is different, colors are in random order, no particular theme.
Wear the sash over basic NPC black and it’s a completely different creature every time.
Suggestions for gamerunners to consider for creating chaos creatures:
Baseline – Plot to provide dmg swing, total life to drop, fatal weakness, or other core basics.
Then . . .
- Provide a list of allowed monsters … let the NPCs pick out their own preference of 1 low level skills from any of those monsters, up to a total of <number>. Maybe toss in “you can also pick two 2nd level skills, but only use them one time”.
OR … - Roll a creature … use 2 d6 to find the page number, and then use the lowest level skill you see on that page. Or perhaps pick one, choosing between the two lowest level skills?
OR … - Or maybe instead of only low-level skills, consider 1 from 3rd level, 2 from 2nd level, 3 from 1st level?
OR … - Curious Person …. pick X number of skills from X number of primary classes for people, making sure to use some skills from at least 4 different classes.
OR … - Plenty of other ideas out there . . .
During play, the players can’t ever learn how to deal with these creatures consistently because they will be different every time, different attacks, different defense, different weapons, different skills, different everything.
Use all 4 sashes at the same time to send in a swarm of chaos creatures …. each and every one of them is different than the other!
